About

Love’s Travel Stops & Country Stores is a family-owned operator of travel stops and convenience stores across the United States. Founded in 1964 in Watonga, Oklahoma, Love’s has 30 locations across 34 states, supporting fuel and convenience retail operations at national scale.

Solutions leveraged:

Challenges

Love’s treasury team needed to keep pace with rapid business growth and a rising transaction load while improving controls and reporting quality. Key constraints and complexities included:

  • Treasury headcount stayed nearly flat as the business expanded, increasing workload without added capacity
  • The company managed about 110 bank relationships, including many smaller community banks in remote store markets
  • The team needed faster reconciliation to catch missing deposits sooner, not 35–40 days after month-end close
  • Wire transfer activity increased, particularly tied to bulk fuel wholesaling activity, raising operational strain

Solution

Love’s partnered with Ripple Treasury to modernize core cash operations, automate high-volume workflows and improve reporting discipline. The team adopted Ripple Treasury to reduce manual effort, build repeatable daily processes and support higher transaction throughput as the business grew. These solutions were deployed:

  • Bank Connectivity and Daily Positioning: Collected and downloaded bank balances, established daily cash position and ending balances and fed current-day cash information into worksheets for morning decision-making.
  • Cash Forecasting: Built forecasts of store deposits and used historical store reporting to plan cash needs and determine daily sweep amounts.
  • Cash Concentration And Payments Automation: Automated cash concentration transfers, recurring wire transfers and ACH (Automated Clearing House) payments using templates, supporting high-volume execution.
  • Reconciliation and General Ledger Automation: Reconciled store accounts daily and used rules-based general ledger coding to export transactions into the corporate general ledger with fewer errors.

Before, we were doing wire transfers through banks... If we hadn’t switched, we would have had problems. With Ripple Treasury, our system is always in balance.

We have thousands of rules to do those assignments automatically every day so we can automatically export 40,000 to 45,000 transactions a month into the GL. This is a huge time savings.

Benefits

By partnering with Ripple Treasury, Love's automated core treasury processes and gained the visibility and efficiency needed to support high-volume cash operations. The company:

  • Improved same-day cash visibility, helping treasury make decisions by 10:00–10:30 a.m.
  • Automated daily reconciliation, reducing the time to identify missing deposits compared with prior monthly processes
  • Enabled high-volume cash concentration activity, with Ripple Treasury creating 200–300 transfers when sweeps ran
  • Reduced manual coding work through rules-based general ledger assignment and automated exports
  • Increased transparency across finance teams, cutting inbound treasury inquiries by giving other departments report access
  • Supported higher wire transfer volume after the move to an ASP-based model, helping keep operations in balance

Conclusion

Love’s used Ripple Treasury to institutionalize disciplined daily treasury operations across a complex banking footprint. With automation, forecasting and reporting improvements, the treasury team handled materially higher volumes while maintaining tight controls and better cross-functional visibility.

We are able to share information with other departments easier. We’re not the only one who can see treasury transactions, so we don’t get as many calls.
