Revealing $80M+ in Idle Cash With Real-Time Visibility

Linxon, a construction engineering company headquartered in Switzerland, implemented Ripple Treasury to automate cash forecasting across 16 global business units. The company moved from fragmented Excel spreadsheets to Ripple Treasury Cash Forecasting. The platform delivered real-time data consolidation to support strategic decision-making and optimize working capital, enabling the finance team to upstream millions in excess liquidity.

The Challenge

Before implementing Ripple Treasury, Linxon's global treasury team relied on manual, fragmented processes that limited visibility and efficiency. This created several key challenges:

  • Lack of real-time visibility: Staff had to log into multiple banking portals daily to view actual cash positions, making it impossible to access the real-time data needed for strategic financial decisions.
  • Time-consuming manual work: The 16 business units spent approximately four hours each week manually extracting bank statement data, and mapping individual invoices to specific projects in Excel added more time to an already labor-intensive process.
  • Data accuracy risks: Consolidating spreadsheet files manually introduced a high risk of inaccuracies and frequent application crashes.
  • Inconsistent forecasting: Inconsistent data collection methods across local finance teams made year-end cash forecasting unpredictable and left the treasury team unable to provide timely answers to the CFO.

The Solution

Linxon deployed the Ripple Treasury Cash Forecasting module to connect bank accounts and ERP systems through a centralized platform where all 16 business units could submit forecasts directly. Automated daily bank transaction feeds eliminated manual data extraction from banking portals. A daily ERP sync enabled the team to easily see the previous day’s bank balance, while custom dashboard widgets gave the team a clear view of overdue invoices. The platform also introduced automated forecast submission deadlines and custom formulas to calculate operating cash flow using direct-method forecasting.

Key Benefits

Strategic liquidity management

Linxon can now view up to six weeks of future cash positions in real time with high accuracy, as well as a full-year, month-by-month cash position based on the latest cash flow estimates. The treasury team can quickly identify idle cash sitting in local accounts around the world and upstream excess liquidity to the holding company for more effective corporate investment.

"This newfound visibility successfully surfaced millions of dollars in excess corporate cash,” said David Kaya, Senior Treasury Manager at Linxon.

Enhanced operational efficiency

Each local business unit now saves approximately 7 hours per week on routine cash forecasting tasks. The global treasury team saves an additional 4 hours weekly on consolidation and reporting. Across the organization, those gains add up to roughly 48 working days saved annually, freeing treasury professionals to focus on strategic initiatives and business support.

Improved forecast accuracy

Cash forecast accuracy improved dramatically by the latest year-end close. The treasury team can now deliver operating cash flow projections days before the ERP month-end close, and the CFO receives accurate daily updates without requiring treasury to chase local teams for data. Kaya noted he often has the information ready before it is even requested.

Proactive working capital optimization

Custom dashboard widgets allow the global treasury team to drill down into overdue invoices by country, enabling them to proactively support local finance teams in resolving long-outstanding payment items. The approach has improved cash collections and strengthened overall working capital management.

The Bottom Line

Kaya credited the platform's visibility with surfacing millions in excess corporate cash. The team uses idle cash to invest in money market funds that accrue daily dividends, rather than leaving funds idle in bank accounts at each business unit. With Ripple Treasury, Linxon now has the control needed to pursue advanced strategies like automated cash pooling and the precise data required to make rapid capital allocation decisions with confidence.
